When the Gravity Separator working, mixed seeds flow onto the sieve bed from feed hopper. As the function of up flow air and sieve bed vibration, seeds are classified into several layers in vertical direction. Heavy seeds are at the lower layer while light seeds are at the higher layer. After layering, then sorting process begins. The heavy seeds in touch with sieve bed begin to move to the higher side due to vibration while the light seeds in suspension above the sieve bed move to the lower side. Along with all the seeds moving from the feed end to the discharge end, through vibration of sieve bed, the vertical layering becomes the horizontal layering gradually. When the seeds get to the discharge end, the sorting process is completed. Heavy seeds are sorted at the higher zone of the sieve bed while light seeds the lower zone and medium-weight seeds the middle zone.
